Where to start! The South Pennines are in West Yorkshire and boast some of its most scenic landscapes, from wild and rugged hills, moors and valleys to Gaddings Dam, the highest beach in England.
Hebden Bridge is a creative, bohemian, bustling town nested in the stunning countryside of the South Pennines. Packed full of independent shops and galleries, great pubs, bars and restaurants, and welcoming, friendly (extremely proud!) folk.
We have plenty to do in the town, with everything just a few minutes walk from the apartment. The Trades Club is a fantastic venue for an enormous mix of live music and entertainment, or you can enjoy a cuppa and piece of cake whilst watching a film at our Art Deco Picture House . We also have our own Little Theatre and the stunning National Trust site at Gibson Mill is a miles walk away.
We like a party in Hebden Bridge and pack the calender accordingly. We have something for everyone with a Vintage car rally, Piano Festival and Battle of the (brass) bands, the summer has the Handmade Parade and wonderful Arts a Festival. The Candlelit Carols in the square on Christmas Eve are magical…..I could go on and on but you get the idea!
Our local websites http://www.visitcalderdale.com/, http://www.hebdenbridge.co.uk have lots of local information and up to date listings of what’s on locally.
The stunning Pennine Way is on our doorstep as are endless walks and mountain bike trails. Staying at the Zion Chapel you can walk direct from your door, and we have maps and information about walking locally in the apartment.
The historic hilltop village of Heptonstall is a (steep!) walk away, although your walk will be rewarded with two pubs and a fantastic tea shop (great home made cakes!). Its well worth exploring the Medieval church and American poet Sylvia Plaths is buried here.
Over the moors you will find the pretty hilltop village of Howarth. The Howarth Parsonage is where the Bronte sisters lived and wrote most of their novels. Its now a museum and well worth checking their website for events.
Zion Chapel is 5 minutes walk into the centre of town and just 10 minutes walk to the train station. From where you can take a direct train to Manchester, Leeds, York and even Blackpool.
